Explore Holland State Park
Located between Lake Michigan and Lake Macatawa lies Holland State Park; a beautiful park that was named after the city just 4 miles to its north. The park was acquired from the city of Holland in 1926 and has been used since for its magnificent beaches and campgrounds. Keeping the charm of the Dutch culture and architecture, you’ll find many buildings and landmarks that pay homage to the Dutch way of life throughout the park.
Since the park is located between Lake Michigan and Lake Macatawa, there are two parts to the park. Each part has its own campground and offers beautiful views of sunrises and sunsets and is perfect for recreational activities both on land and on water. The beaches are perfect for swimming in the summer months. There are over 25 miles of biking trails throughout the park and the hiking trails take you through the best nature of beautiful Ottawa County.
Visitors can also take advantage of the fishing and boating activities on either lake. The Lake Michigan side has beach volleyball courts set up and has a full service concession stand. You can walk the pier and take beautiful pictures of the Big Red lighthouse on the coast. Lake Macatawa has a new Dune walk stairway and hiking trail that is now open for you to explore.
The campgrounds on both sides of the park offer full amenities. There are 211 campsites available at the Lake Macatawa campgrounds with close proximities to the beach. On theLake Michigan side there are 98 paved campsites with 31 that have full hook-ups. This campground offers beachside camping so you can enjoy the beautiful sunset’s right from your campsite.
Daily admission to the park is $9. Season passes are available for $11 for in state residents, and $39 for out of state residents. For more information on Holland State Park or to make reservations, visit www.holland.org/listings/
