RV Dining Tour

If you are looking for an excuse to hop in the RV and get away for a while, but it’s still a little cold to be camping, why not go on a dining tour? A trip around the state to check out some of the best places to eat is a win, win for everyone. Michigan is home to thousands of restaurants and bars; how do you know which ones to try?

Well, we’ve got 4 places that are a must visit on your RV dining tour.

The first stop has just been voted to have the best doughnuts in the state by MLive. Hinkley Bakery in Jackson has the best homemade doughnuts that you’ll find. Customers travel from all over just to get their hands on these award winning pastries and the bakery often has lines around the block. But, patrons say they are definitely worth the wait. Only open 4 days a week, Brian Hinkley puts in over 30 hours straight sometimes just to ensure their customers leave happy. They have a multitude of different flavors of doughnuts, like carrot cake, but they also have other breakfast favorites to serve anyone’s cravings. Make Hinkley Bakery your first stop on your dining tour and you won’t be disappointed.

The next stop is the Tomukun Noodle Bar in Ann Arbor. If you like pan-asian style cuisine then you’ll love this place.  The menu consists of your typical asian style ramen, udon, katsu and pho plates. But their newest item on the menu is the Tempura Shrimp Bun. This delicacy is made with marinated and tempura battered shrimp placed on a thin style bun topped with sweet red onion, diced jalapenos, cilantro and spread with a homemade spicy mayo.  If your mouth isn’t watering yet, one bite of this delicious customer favorite will certainly do the trick.  Tempura Shrimp Bun   If asian style food isn’t your cup of tea the next stop on our list has the best burgers in Michigan.  Laura’s Little Burger Joint in Decatur is a little roadside oasis with a big taste menu.  The Chapman Burger is their most popular burger made with 2- 7oz patties cooked on a flattop grill with an old fashion hand press. Topped with 2 slices of pepperjack cheese, bacon, grilled onions, and deluxe ketchup made from their own recipe, this mouthwatering meat patty is only $7.95 and includes fries and a drink.  You get gourmet burgers without gourmet pricing.

Burgers and salty fries might leave you feeling a little thirsty. What better way to wash down all that food you just consumed with a refreshing beer.  The best brewery in Michigan is the Shorts Brewery Company in Bellaire.  With over 20 beers on tap, all made in house, they have some of the most unique and creative beers you’ll find such as the BBQ Beer. But don’t let the name steer you away, their flavors don’t disappoint. Shorts is not only known for their beer but they have an outstanding food menu and the staff is friendly and very knowledgeable about their selection; something the owner ,Joe Short, prides himself on.
